This San Jose Appliance Repair Service Increased Their Lead Volume by 400% Through Leveraging Geo-Targeted Web Content

Overview

The Challenge: Great Service, Not Enough Calls

AAA Home Appliance Repair is a small, family-owned appliance repair company based in San Jose, CA. Like a lot of local service businesses, they weren’t struggling with quality or customer satisfaction. The issue was visibility.

Through the end of 2023 and the start of 2024, AAA Home Appliance Repair was only getting about 10–15 calls per month. That’s significantly below what we typically see for appliance repair clients in comparable markets.

When we dug into the data, a big part of the problem became clear: San Jose is a major metropolitan area with heavy competition, and AAA Home Appliance Repair’s website was struggling to rank for critical queries like “appliance repair San Jose CA.” Competing for those San Jose keywords meant fighting an uphill battle against bigger, more established players.

Our Hypothesis: Work Smarter, Not Harder

Instead of pouring more effort into the most crowded part of the map, we asked a different question: “Where else does this client already want to work, and how can we help them dominate those areas first?”

The owner told us he regularly worked (and wanted more work) in several nearby towns:

1. Los Gatos

2. Cupertino

3. Campbell

These communities have decent populations and strong potential for appliance repair demand, they are geographically close to his base in San Jose, and they are less competitive than central San Jose for local search.

Our theory? If we could help AAA Home Appliance Repair become the go-to option in Los Gatos, Cupertino, and Campbell, they could dramatically increase call volume without needing to win every battle in downtown San Jose right away.

The Strategy: Hyper-Local Content for Surrounding Towns

Starting in July 2024, we rolled out a focused content strategy:
Step 1:

We identified target towns around San Jose where the client was happy to drive and where competition was more manageable.

Step 2:
We created new service pages specifically tailored to each town and its search demand.
Step 3:
We published three new location-focused pages every month, consistently, from July 2024 through October 2025.

Each new page was designed to clearly signal relevance for queries like “appliance repair Los Gatos CA,” as well as highlight our client’s family-owned, trustworthy nature. We didn’t reinvent the wheel. We just made sure the site spoke directly to the people searching in those target areas.

The Results: From 10–15 Calls/Month to Over 50!

As the new pages were indexed and climbed the rankings, we saw a steady, meaningful lift in performance. Over the course of the next year, call volume climbed month after month, tracking closely with the cadence of new content. By July 2025, AAA Home Appliance Repair hit 56 calls in a single month. That’s roughly a 4–5x increase over the original 10–15 calls per month!

At the same time, rankings in our target areas improved significantly. For searches like “appliance repair Los Gatos CA,” “appliance repair Cupertino CA,” and “appliance repair Campbell CA,” AAA Home Appliance Repair now appears right at the top of the results page. The client’s phone started ringing with exactly the kinds of jobs they wanted in exactly the places they wanted to work.

Graph showing exponential increase in call volume over the course of a year

If you look at the graphs (call volume and ranking trends), the results are hard to ignore:

  • July 2024: Strategy launch and first batch of town-focused pages
  • Following months: Rankings climb in Los Gatos, Cupertino, Campbell
  • July 2025: Peak so far at 56 calls in one month, with sustained improvement over the initial baseline

Why This Worked

This case demonstrates a few key truths about local SEO for home-service businesses:
#1: You don’t have to win the biggest city to win the market.
Targeting strategic neighboring towns can deliver big gains faster and with less resistance.
#2: Consistency beats quick fixes.
The turning point wasn’t a single tweak—it was a full year of disciplined, monthly content additions focused on specific locations.
#3: Local intent matters more than brute force.
When someone in Los Gatos searches “appliance repair near me,” they want to see content tailored to Los Gatos— not San Jose.
